Lady Susan

This epistolary novel consists of 41 letters written by and for the main characters. It is a youthful work, complete, but never submitted by the author for publication. It describes the plans of the protagonist, the recently widowed Lady Susan, as she searches for a new husband and at the same time tries to marry her 16-year-old daughter to Sir James. Although the book, with its focus on the study of the character and morals of people, is close to the other works published by Austen (Sense and Sensibility was originally written in epistolary form), its perspective is very different, since the ( anti) heroin has few parallels in 19th century literature. Lady Susan is a very attractive woman for her age (over thirty years) but selfish, who tries to catch the most convenient husband possible, while she maintains a relationship with a married man.
