The congregation of the Fountain of the Living Waters Church in rural Missouri are stunned one Sunday when Reverend Jacob Farley announces that the End Times foretold in the Bible is upon them. He tells them that God chose him to inform the world that Jesus will establish his kingdom on earth in just a few months. Not everyone is convinced Jacob is the Chosen One to deliver this message. They question why God would select an unknown to deliver such an important message. Like the peacock is proud to display his magnificent tail plumage, Jacob is proud to be called by God to save the world. His ego soars because he feels immune to criticism. To question him is to question God. While Jacob is wined and dined to excess on the world stage, he ignores his commitment to his flock as they struggle with his announcement. Five families are investigated in this story. There are those who double their faith to lead Christ-like lives. Some commit sins with the idea of seeking God's grace before the end of the world. Many ask why an obscure clergyman from a small rural hill country should be selected to deliver an announcement of world-wide significance. Jacob's longtime friend and church deacon attempts to effect a reformation. Jacob mocks his deacon as one of no faith. In the end though, it is the deacon who rescues Jacob when the sun rises to create a new day. Sometimes witty. Sometimes tragic.
