Grisbain reads the early chapters of the Book of Elder Days and finds out how magic entered the land and about the wizard who banished the Waryrenn the first time they came. He discovers the wizard was also tied to the banishment spell and is still alive. Grisbain decides to look for him to ask if he will show him how the spell was created so he can create his own amended version. The wizard however has been in hiding for over a thousand years and doesn't want to be found. The siege of Hazlemere continues but the soldiers are taking loses they can't afford. The two lords know they have to decide when to withdraw to the back of the city adjoining the mountains but want to give the young wizard as much time as possible before they do so, knowing once they do it will be the start of their endgame. Nathan, Bethany and Ben have travelled away from the pens and think the only worries they have are surviving out in the wild but two Waryrenn trackers have come to the banished lands and are on their trail and are closing in on them.
