Guru signifies 'information'. Information here implies the information on 'oneself' or 'Atma. 'Information' here doesn't mean the information on the actual world. Put the information that you acquired in your school, college, or the information you derived from the teachings of life too to the side. Here we are discussing the information on 'oneself'. You have gotten entirely learned of the outside world at this point. Most likely on that. Yet, forget about it until further notice. Presently the time has come to have some information about your 'self'. This 'self' can easily be realized if you have someone who can help to ward off the Maaya which eludes your true power or recognition through the path of gyana or knowledge which your guru has already gained and thus can simplify the path to achieve the same for you.
