A Tramp Abroad

These include a mixture of autobiography and fictional events published by American writer Mark Twain in 1880. The book details the journey of the author and his friend Harris (a character created for this book and based on his closest friend Joseph Twicker)., Through Central and Southern Europe. Although the stated goal of the journey was to take most of the road, these people found themselves using other forms of transportation when crossing the continent. This book is the fourth of the six travel books published by Mark Twain during his lifetime, and is generally considered an unofficial sequel to the first "Innocent Foreigners". When the two men traveled through Germany, the Alps and Italy, their reaction made the situation they encountered more humorous. The narrator (Twain) played the role of an American tourist at the time, thinking that he knew everything he saw, but in fact he knew nothing.
