Who Are Close Your Eyes?

Close Your Eyes, often shortened to CYE, was formed through JTBC’s survival program Project 7. The seven-member group debuted under UNCORE in April 2025 with the mini album Eternalt. Unlike many survival-show groups that immediately lean into aggressive concepts or trend-focused singles, Close Your Eyes introduced a more atmospheric and emotionally layered sound from the beginning. Their group name reflects the idea that their music should remain convincing and immersive even when listeners “close their eyes,” placing equal focus on sonic detail and visual presentation.

The lineup includes members with different entertainment backgrounds, including previous survival-show contestants and active idols. That blend contributes to the group’s dynamic stage presence and versatility. Jeon Minwook, for example, already had experience as a member of BAE173 before joining CYE, while Ma Jingxiang and Jang Yeojun were recognized by K-pop fans through earlier competition programs. The involvement of creative director Lee Hae-in, known for her visual and conceptual work in K-pop can also be felt in the group’s carefully connected album aesthetics, music videos, and storytelling approach.

The Sound and Style of CYE

Many newer K-pop groups prioritize fast-paced hooks and heavy production from the outset, but Close Your Eyes leans into mood-building arrangements, softer emotional textures, and cinematic pacing. Their releases often move between dreamy melodies, dramatic choruses, and introspective moments rather than relying purely on high-energy performance tracks.

That approach became especially noticeable with Eternalt, where listeners and online communities highlighted the album’s cohesive structure and lack of filler tracks. The project introduced CYE as a group focused on complete album experiences instead of only title-track promotion.

The group’s multinational lineup additionally gives their music and promotions a broader international dimension. Members from Korea, China, and Japan contribute to the global identity that many fans associate with modern K-pop’s expanding worldwide audience.
