Released in October 2001, Invincible stands as the tenth and final studio album completed during Michael Jackson’s lifetime. Spanning 16 tracks and over 77 minutes of music, the record was a massive, forward-looking effort that merged Jackson’s legendary vocal chops with cutting-edge 2000s R&B, hip-hop production, and pop experimentation. Enlisting heavyweights like Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Teddy Riley, and Andreao "Face" Heard, Jackson crafted dense, futuristic beats on tracks like "Unbreakable," "Heartbreaker," and the hit single "You Rock My World," while also delivering timeless, lush ballads like "Butterflies," "Break of Dawn," and the choir-backed "Speechless."

Despite debuting at number one globally and earning multi-platinum certifications, Invincible was overshadowed at release by an infamous public dispute between Jackson and Sony Music, which drastically cut promotion short and left many planned singles and videos unreleased. Over time, however, the album’s legacy has undergone a major critical re-evaluation. Issued as part of National Album Day 2026, Invincible is receiving a limited 2LP reissue pressed on stone grey marble vinyl. Given that original 2001 vinyl pressings are notoriously rare and second-hand copies routinely sell for high prices, this anniversary pressing gives listeners a long-awaited chance to experience Jackson’s final studio statement on a high-quality physical format.
