A story of erotic obsession from director Roman Polanski. En route to Istanbul, up-tight English couple Nigel and Fiona (Hugh Grant and Kristin Scott-Thomas) meet Oscar (Peter Coyote), a wheelchair-bound American writer, and his young French wife Mimi (Emmanuelle Seigner). Oscar begins telling Nigel tales of his erotic, obsessive and sadistic relationship with Mimi, and Nigel is immediately fascinated.

However, when Nigel begins to get involved in the couple's erotic games things take a nasty turn.
