George Crumb
George Crumb (born October 24, 1929) is an American composer of modern and avant-garde music. He is known as an explorer of unusual timbres and extended technique. Examples include spoken flute (one speaks while blowing into the instrument) and glass marbles poured onto an open piano. Presented here are some of Crumbs most extraordinary works. Cosmic spheres in Music for a Summer Evening (1974), a visit to the Padua Arena Chapel in a Little Suite for Christmas (1979), and extraordinary piano sounds in the Five Piano Pieces (1962). Newly remastered.
