Originally released in 1983 on the small Dutch independent label Klaver Vier, Danny Boy’s “Disko Mix” emerged during the early wave of electro disco, years ahead of its time. With futuristic synths, a steady groove, and Danny Boy’s playful vocal raps celebrating the disco sound, the track captured an unique moment in Dutch club culture. Written by Jolyon Grevelt, son of renowned producer Han Grevelt, “Disko Mix” followed Jolyon’s pioneering success with Repper De Klep, the first Dutch-language rap hit, a localized take on Joe Bataan’s Rap-O Clap-O.
While the ''Vokaal''version has its charm, it’s the ''Instrumentaal'' that truly shines. That version caught the ear of DJs like Young Marco, who featured it on his acclaimed Selectors 002 compilation for Dekmantel in 2017, helping introduce the track to a new international audience.
Long sought-after by collectors, the original 12” commands high prices on Discogs. Now, this Dutch boogie treasure “Disko Mix” returns for the first time as a remastered reissue, featuring three versions: ''Vokaal'', single edit, and the sought after ''Instrumentaal''. “Disko Mix” is available as limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on ''Klavier Vier'' green coloured vinyl with faithfully reproduced artwork and brings a cult classic back to the turntables.
