The heroism of Maria Valdizan in times of martyrology

Heroicity of María Valdizán in times of martyrology, proposes the study on the participation and sacrifice of women during the war of independence of Peru, particularly in the mining environment of San Esteban de Yauricocha, today Cerro de Pasco. María Valdizán fulfilling her design, as a single woman to preserve her social status or as a virtuous widow, far from a convent or a place of depository as a social burden in some shelter, as it was frequent with the single women of her time, lived the moment of the independence effervescence, as Leguía y Martínez affirms, between Villa de Pasco and Cerro de Pasco, administering her goods and plotting the conspiracy. In December 1820, in his land Villa de Pasco joined the expeditionary army of Juan Antonio Alvarez de Arenales who came triumphant with the army of the Andes and Chile throughout the central highlands proclaiming independence. After the heroic battle of Pasco on December 6th, he became the contact in the organization of the nascent republican State. Soon the royalist forces, in their violent colonial restoration, found her whereabouts and chose to slit her throat on May 10, 1821.
